RStudio Cloud is becoming Posit Cloud? Há motivo para receio?

Olá pessoal. Vocês sabem mais sobre esta mudança? Eu estou um pouco temeroso. Medo de perder meus dados no RStudio Cloud. Devo temer?

Oi Rafael!

Segue alguns trechos:

So while you will see our name change in a bunch of places (including our main corporate website), we are still continuing on the same path.
Tradução : “Portanto, embora você verá nosso nome mudar em vários lugares (incluindo nosso principal site corporativo), ainda continuamos no mesmo caminho.”

What does the new name mean for our commercial software? In many ways, nothing: our commercial products have supported Python for over 2 years. But we will rename them to Posit Connect, Posit Workbench, and Posit Package Manager so it’s easier for folks to understand that we support more than just R. What about our open source software? Similarly, not much is changing: our open source software is and will continue to be predominantly for R.

Hi there,

Tomorrow, RStudio will become Posit!

Our new name belies our ambitions to make open-source data science accessible to everyone. With Posit, we’re excited to share what we love about R and RStudio with the wider world.

Why are we excited about our new name, Posit?
Posit is a real word that means to put forth an idea for discussion. Data scientists spend much of their day positing claims that they then evaluate with data. When considering a new name for the company we wanted something that reflects both the work our community engages in (testing hypotheses!) as well as the scientific aspiration to build ever-greater levels of knowledge and understanding.

Why are we changing our name from RStudio to Posit?
Our charter defines our mission as the creation of free and open source software for data science, scientific research, and technical communication. This mission intentionally goes beyond “R for Data Science”— we hope to take the approach that’s succeeded with R and apply it more broadly. We want to build a company that is around in 100 years time and continues to have a positive impact on science and technical communication. You can also watch JJ Allaire and Hadley Wickham’s keynote presentation from this year’s rstudio::conf in Washington, D.C.

What does the new name mean for our commercial software?
In many ways, nothing. Our commercial products have supported Python for over 3 years. But we will rename them to Posit Connect, Posit Workbench, Posit Package Manager, Posit Cloud, and Posit Academy so it’s easier for folks to understand that we support more than just R.

What about our open-source software?
Similarly, not much is changing: our open-source software is and will continue to be predominantly for R. That said, over the past few years we’ve already been investing in multiple languages, and you can expect to see more multi-language experiments in the future.

While we of course feel sad moving away from the RStudio name that’s served us so well, we feel excited about the future of Posit. We’re also happy that the RStudio name will live on, retaining its original purpose: identifying the best IDE for data science with R.

Will I still continue to receive emails from rstudio.com? Can I still send emails to rstudio.com?
Yes. All rstudio.com emails will continue to function normally throughout the transition to the new name, at least through December 2023. In November, we will launch new email addresses under posit.co - but forwarding will be in place to ensure your communication is not impacted. In the meantime, we recommend adding “posit.co” to your address book.

What will happen to the RStudio social media accounts?
Our social media accounts will be rebranded to Posit. On some channels, the change will be instantaneous. On other channels, there may be a slight delay.

We encourage you to follow our most popular channels, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube, in advance of the launch.

What if I have more questions?
If you have questions about the rebrand, simply reply to this email. We read the replies and are eager to answer your questions!

What if I can’t wait until November 2?
We can’t wait either! We’re thrilled that we found a name that we think so accurately captures what people do with our tools and we’re excited to make our broader mission more clear to the outside world. A sneak peek of our new website is now live! Visit posit.co to learn more.

Finally, we would not be where we are today without you. We are incredibly grateful for the tremendous support and faith you have placed in us. Thank you.

See you tomorrow!
